The part training doesn't cover
PMHNP programs teach you the criteria, the pharmacology, and the guidelines. What they can't teach is what to do when the patient in front of you doesn't match any of it cleanly — when the history is contradictory, the diagnosis you inherited doesn't fit, and there's no attending down the hall to think it through with. That gap closes with reps and with watching someone experienced reason out loud. That's what this is for.

See how it works
A short look at how I teach clinical reasoning inside Confident Psychiatry.
This is for you if
You're an early-career PMHNP and want reasoning, not just more content.
You've been practicing a while and want harder cases and real discussion.
You want to hear how an experienced psychiatrist actually thinks through a case.
You learn better with live discussion than from recorded material alone.
Who this is for
This isn't for you if
You want a fully self-paced course with no live component.
You're looking for clinical supervision or consultation on your own patients.
You want board review or memorization drills rather than clinical reasoning.
Who's teaching

I'm Dr. Gerald Richardson, a board-certified psychiatrist.
I built Confident Psychiatry because the hardest part of psychiatric practice isn't knowing the criteria — it's knowing what to do when the case in front of you doesn't fit them. That's a skill you build by watching someone reason through it, out loud, over and over.
That's what I do here. Not lectures on what to memorize, but how I actually think through the messy ones — what I'd ask next, what would change my mind, and where I'm genuinely uncertain.
Common questions
What does it cost?
A single monthly subscription that covers all live sessions and the full course library. Cancel anytime.
Is this live or self-paced?
Built around live, case-based sessions, with replays in the library. It isn't a static course you work through alone.
Does this count as supervision or consultation?
No. Everything here is education only. I can't advise on your specific patients or provide clinical supervision.
